MPP Costs to Altus Financials – Setup Guide

This page outlines the prerequisites and setup steps required to enable publishing cost data from Microsoft Project (MPP) into Altus Financials.

Once enabled, project managers can publish their MPP plans using Altus for Project, and cost data (forecast and actual costs) will be brought into Altus Financials as part of the publish process.

For full details on how the cost data behaves once published, refer to the MPP Cost to Altus Financials Publish Behaviour page.

Prerequisites

To use this feature, the following versions are required:

  • A minimum supported version of Altus for Project
  • A minimum supported version of Altus

If the Altus for Project version supports this feature but the Altus version does not:

  • The publish process will still run
  • The cost publish step will be skipped
  • No cost data will be imported into Altus Financials

Cost publish step skipped due to unsupported Altus version

Important Behaviour

Before using this feature, it is important to understand how existing cost data is handled:

  • Any cost data entered directly into Altus Financials (including budget, forecast, and actual values) will remain unchanged

  • Cost data imported via the following is removed and replaced with cost data from MPP to prevent duplication:

    • Resource Plan to Financials sync
    • Timesheet to Financials sync

For full details on how cost data is structured, updated, and controlled after publish, refer to the MPP Cost to Altus Financials Publish Behaviour page.

The feature can be turned off at any time at the project level.

From within the project:

  • Open the Financials tab
  • Open the Data menu
  • Select Disable Cost Publishing from MPP
