The hours that one FTE equates to are calculated based on the “Hours Per Work Day” field in the Default Calendar. More information can be found here.
Generic Resources
A Generic resource represents a role/Group of users within the organisation. Generic Resources can be used in the Proposal/Business Case stage within Altus. Generic Resources can be requested by a project and then an available Named Resource can be Committed by the Resource Manager. Generic Resources do not have an Availability value, as they represent a role/group of users not a single user. Generic Resources do not have a Committed value, as you cannot commit a role/group of users, you can only commit Named Resources.
Named Resources
A Named Resource represents a specific Person or Entity (Room/Equipment etc) within the organisation. A Named Resource can be assigned a Calendar, Cost Category, Rate, Line Manager, Department, Target Utilisation, and you can set if they need to complete a timesheet and who should review/approve their timesheets. Named Resources can be used in the Proposal/Business Case stage within Altus. Named Resources can be requested by projects and then the same or another Named Resource can be Committed by the Resource Manager. Named Resources have an Availability value which is calculated based on their Calendar and any other commitments they have during that period. Named Resources have a Committed value, which is calculated based on the hours they have been committed by Resource Managers onto projects. You can create Capacity % requests for Named Resources which calculates their Capacity calculation based on their Calendar.
Overallocation
The amount of time a resource has been Committed to projects is higher than their Capacity.
