Exporting Dataverse Attribute/Column Data

Sometimes it makes sense to review the column types that you are storing in Dataverse. You may also want to export this data periodically in order to keep an historical account of any changes over time.

Exporting this Dataverse data is made easy via a plugin called Attribute Explorer which is available in XrmToolbox.

Launch XrmToolbox and connect to your environment. Then launch Attribute Explorer. XrmToolbox Attribute Explorer Plugin selection

Once Attribute Explorer has loaded, select Load Attributes Selecting Load Attributes in the Attribute Explorer tool

Data about the attributes from every entity in your environment will be loaded. This includes columns from Microsoft tables, Altus tables, third party tables plus any custom tables that you have created.

Optionally drag the EntityLogicalName column into the grouping box just about the table. (This will group all of the columns by table). Skip this step if you want to see all columns across all entities without needing to expand/collapse the groupings. Dragging EntityLogicalName column to the grouping box will group by TableData grouped by Table name

Then select Export to Excel and all data will be exported to an Excel file. Export to Excel from Attribute Explorer tool
