Corporate deployment
Warning
In a corporate environment where end-users lack administrative permissions on their local computers, the auto-update feature will not function. It is crucial that the Altus for Project version matches or exceeds the deployed Altus version. If you opt for this approach, you may need to consistently repackage and distribute updates to your end-users. Failure to do so will result in end-users losing the capability to connect from Microsoft Project to Altus.
Microsoft Intune example
The deployment of this Add-in tool may be managed by your organisation via an InTune release.
NOTE: To deploy modern apps, you need at least:
- For Windows 10 1803, May 23, 2018—KB4100403 OS Build 17134.81.
- For Windows 10 1709, June 21, 2018—KB4284822 OS Build 16299.522.
Only Windows 10 1803 and later support installing apps when there is no primary user associated. LOB app deployment is not supported on devices running Windows 10 Home editions.
Apps can only be installed in the device context when supported by the device and the Intune app type. Device context installs are supported on Windows 10 desktops and Teams devices, such as the Surface Hub. They are not supported on devices running Windows Holographic for Business, such as the Microsoft HoloLens.
Administration requirements:
- Global admin privileges.
- Intune Administrator.
User requirements:
- Devices should be Azure joined or enrolled in Intune Company Portal.
How To Deploy the Add-in via Intune
Sign in to the Microsoft Intune admin center.
Select Apps > All apps.
Click the + Add button.
Select the app type Line-of-business apps for .msi.
You can install the following app types in the device context and assign these apps to a device group:
- Win32 apps
- Offline licensed Microsoft Store for Business apps
- LOB apps (MSI, APPX and MSIX)
- Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
After choosing the app type, click on the Select button located at the bottom right.
Select the app file and fill out any required details on the App information tab.
On the Assignments tab fill out the assignments.
Note
You can add an AD group of specific users, add all users, or add all devices.
On the Review + create tab, review the details, and click Create.

This will take time to fully deploy the app to all users.
