Platform Regional Settings
Altus runs on Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform, which provide built-in support for multiple languages, regional formats, and currencies. These platform capabilities apply to standard Dynamics forms, views, and system labels automatically.
Language Packs
Dynamics 365 supports installing language packs that translate the platform UI — including navigation, system labels, form headers, and standard views — into the selected language.
Once a language pack is installed and enabled by an administrator, individual users can select their preferred UI language via Personalisation Settings.
For the full list of supported languages, see Microsoft's documentation on language packs.
Note
Language packs translate the Dynamics 365 platform UI. Altus custom components have their own translation status, covered in Custom Component Support.
User-Level Personalisation
Each user can configure their own regional preferences in Dynamics 365:
- UI Language — the language used for platform navigation and labels
- Date Format — how dates are displayed (e.g. DD/MM/YYYY vs MM/DD/YYYY)
- Number Format — decimal and thousands separators (e.g. 1,000.00 vs 1.000,00)
- Time Zone — used for date/time display and scheduling
- Currency — default currency for new records
These settings are found under Settings → Personalisation Settings in the Dynamics 365 application.
Organisation-Level Format Settings
Administrators can set the default regional format for the entire organisation. This controls the default date, number, and currency display for all users who have not overridden their personal settings.
These settings are found under Advanced Settings → System → Administration → Formats.
For step-by-step instructions on configuring these settings, see Deployment — Regional Date Settings.
Warning
The organisation-level format setting does not retroactively change personalisation settings for existing users. Users who were created before the format was changed will need to update their own personalisation settings individually.
Multi-Currency Support
Dynamics 365 supports multiple transaction currencies. Each record can have its own currency, and values are stored in both the transaction currency and the organisation's base currency.
NOTE: Altus custom components do not currently support the use of multiple different currencies inside a single Altus installation, and make the assumption when aggregating records and reporting that all records are in the same currency. If this is important to you please vote for Multi-Currency support on the product roadmap.
What the Platform Does Not Cover
The platform regional settings described above apply to standard Dynamics 365 forms, views, and fields. Altus extends the platform with custom components that have their own regional and language support status.
For details on what Altus custom components currently support, see Custom Component Support.
